Everyone’s talking about Trump’s recent threat to Nigeria, and as usual, opinions are flying. Some call it a bold move, others see it as another foreign decoy. But let’s be honest, when has any so-called “help” from the outside ever come without strings attached?

History keeps repeating itself, and we still pretend not to notice. Remember how Boko Haram began? They didn’t start with guns and bombs. They came smiling, offering gifts, money, and promises to lift communities out of poverty. People welcomed them with open arms. But once they gained ground, the real mission began with killing, looting, and destruction.

The truth is simple: not every savior comes to save. Some come to enslave, this time not with bullets but with charm and promises.

So when someone shows up pretending to be throwing gifts around and promising heaven on earth, pause and ask, Why now? What’s the real cost?

Be wise. Because the payback for blind trust is always heavier than the gift that bought it.

Ogun State, learn the lesson before it’s too late. History has a cruel way of repeating itself, especially for those who refuse to pay attention.
