Abducted Journalists in Kaduna Regain Freedom Along With Their Families

Two Journalists based in Kaduna, North Western Nigeria that were abducted from their homes last week, Abdulgafar Alabelewe of The Nation Newspapers and Abduraheem Aodu of the Blueprint Newspapers as well as members of their families have regained freedom.

This was revealed in a statement by the Kaduna Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The statement notes that the two journalists and families were released today, Saturday.

The Chairman of the Council, Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu, who signed the statement, expressed appreciation to all those involved in the release of the journalists and their families.

Hajiya Halilu specially expressed the profound gratitude of the NUJ to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS), the Inspector General of Police, the Kaduna State government, the NUJ President and all well-meaning Nigerians that prayed along with the Council during the trying time.

The NUJ Chairperson stated that the Council will soon announce when the two journalists will join the rest of their colleagues in Kaduna after which line of visits would be opened to enable people visit, rejoice and glorify God with them.

The statement reads this:

“To the glory of God Almighty, our colleagues, Abdulgafar Alabelewe, Abduraheem Aodu and thier families have been released.

The Council extends her profound gratitude to the office of the CP, Kaduna State Command, office of the NSA, the DG, DSS, the Inspector General of Police, Kaduna State government, the NUJ President and all well meaning Nigerians that prayed along with us during the trying time.

We will soon announce when they will join us in Kaduna so that we could visit, rejoice and glorify God with them”.
