Nigeria – Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi, LLB, LLM, BL, while assuming duty on Tuesday 6th February, 2024 as the AIG in-charge of Zone 2 Command, comprising Lagos and Ogun States, succeeding AIG Ari Mohammed Ali, fcia, psc+, PhD, who has been deployed as the AIG in-charge Community Policing, Force Headquarters Abuja, assured the good people of Lagos and Ogun states that he will deliver on the mandate of protecting law and order and upholding safety and security.
The AIG, as stated by the command spokesperson, SP Ayuba T. Umma was accorded an official salute at the sentry podium, after which he was received by the management team led by DCP Martin Nwogoh.
AIG Durosinmi said, he is well aware of the terrain in the two states, and promised to fight crime and criminality in the states.
In his brief chat with Members of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, AIG Olatoye stated: “I want to thank God Almighty for bringing me here.
“I thank the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for finding me good enough to be here. Whatever I have done before in my various capacities, I will do better here. I am here to fight crime and criminality in Lagos and Ogun states. “This is a terrain I know very well”.
“I promise the good people of Lagos and Ogun that I will give my best. All the years that I have spent in the Police, I will practicalize it here and there will be no regrets”.
He was earlier received by the Board Member, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Dr Ayo Ogunsan; DC Operations, DCP Martin Nwogohi; DC ZCID, DCP Olawale Ajao; ACP Lawal Issah; ACP Okputa Chinwe; Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ayuba Umma; CEO Badinson Security, Mr. Matthew Ibadin among others.
AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi, LLB, BL, LLM, was born on August 19, 1964 in Ayetoro-Yewa in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
He has a BSc in Sociology/Anthropology from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, LLB (Hons) from Delta State University, Abraka, BL from Nigerian Law School, Abuja, LLM from Lagos State University, Ojo Lagos, and a PhD – in view (Imo State University).
AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Course 16 in the year 1990.
The AIG has served in various capacities across the country, such as the DPO Lion Building Division, DPO Ebute-Ero Division, pioneer DPO Layeni Division, DPO Isheri Division, the pioneer DCP State CID Kebbi State, pioneer DCP FSWAT, Lagos, Delta, and Kwara State, to mention but a few.
“The AIG is a vastly experienced police officer who has attended several courses both at home and abroad, and his posting is aimed at achieving the IGP’s vision statement for “emplacing a modern police force that is professional, secure, and rule of law compliant” from his wealth of experience”, Umma stated.
