The Nigeria Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), Ogun 1 Command chaptern in commemoration of the International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration, celebrated their members and other women in the community by distributing food items, which include rice, noodles and beverages to the widows, orphans, vulnerable and the less privileged.
The association, as stated its Publicity Secretary, Mrs Ofonime Archibong on behalf of the COWA Chairperson, commenced their celebration at the Command’s headquarters Idiroko, by meeting the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu and his management team.
The acting chairperson, Mrs Grace Adeola Ogunesan, Mrs Achibong said, informed the CAC about the assembled food items meant to be given out as palliative to widows, orphans and the less privileged, to commemorate IWD celebrations.
“She appreciated the fatherly support of the CAC in securing the items.
“The CAC appreciated the visit of the association and commended their charity initiative. He emphasized that the gesture was conceived at the appropriate time it was highly required to cushion the effects of the present economic challenges facing the country. He urged them to ensure continuity of their kind gesture.
“He went to inspect the food items and join the association in a group photographs before the commencement of the distribution.
“The beneficiaries of the palliative expressed gratitude to the association for deeming it fit to reach out to them. Among the beneficiaries were the wives of late officers who died in active service”, Achibong stated.
