Nigeria: The Ogun State Housing Corporation in an efforts to exercise its general powers of management over its Estates as provided in section 7 (1) of the Ogun State Housing Corporation Law 2006, has issued Contravention Notice to all illegal structures and buildings in all its housing estates across the state.
The General Manager, Ogun State Housing Corporation, TPL Wale Ojo gave this warning during the Development Control and Enforcement exercise at Idiroko Estate of the Corporation in Ipokia Local Government, urging the illegal occupants to remove all illegal structures before the expiration of the notice, as erring occupants would face prosecution and pay the cost of removal of the illegal structures erected.
The exercise according to TPL Ojo was part of the process mandated by law before moving against encourchers, warning that the corporation would not hesitate to demolish all the illegal structures on its scheme after the expiration of the notice.
“In the same vain, the exercise was also to identify development without approval, identify developments not in compliance with approved plans, identify developments with inappropriate use of purpose and in deviant with the Corpration’s layout”, he said.
TPL Ojo appealed to the residents to always consult the appropriate government authority saddled with such responsibilities before buying land and landed property in the State.
Speaking on behalf of the residents of the Estate, the Chairman of Ifeloju CDA, Ikolaje, Idi-iroko, Chief Babatunde Taiwo appealed to the State government to show kindness on them, saying they are ready to comply with government directives on remedial process.
