Nigeria – Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary) and Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Lawal Usman Adamu has charged Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir to pray for peace, security, a healthy and strong economy for the country.

Adamu, popularly called Senator LA by his constituents in Kaduna Central Senatorial District and teeming supporters across Kaduna State, enjoined all citizens to rise above personal, ethnic, group, and sectarian interests by putting Nigeria in the hands of God in prayers for the revival of the country in all areas.

The lawmaker, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant (Media), Segun Olatunji, on the occasion of the celebration of the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir Muslim festival said, as Muslim Ummah and Nigerian citizens, “we must not allow today’s festivities to overshadow its significance and lessons for us as individuals and as a country”.

Senator Adamu, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, admonished Muslims to imbibe the lessons of the Sallah by not shying away from making sacrifices for others and remembering to assist the less privileged, as they have been enjoined by the tenets of Islam.

Senator LA urged Muslims and all Nigerians to eschew selfishness, greed, and corruption, especially at such a time when the country is being confronted by daunting challenges and hardship.

He said that irrespective of the divergence in ethnicity and religions, Nigerians must at all times promote peaceful co-existence, harmony, and tolerance in their relations with one another in such a manner that our diversity would rather be exploited in the overall corporate interest of all citizens and the country at large.

The lawmaker felicitated with the good people of his constituency, Kaduna State as a whole, and all Nigerians on the occasion of the 2024 Eid-El-Adha.

He enjoined his constituents to continue to support him and the PDP, pledging to deliver at all times more dividends of democracy that will empower the people to become independent and enable them to earn their livelihood.

Senator LA further congratulated the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians for being alive to witness and celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.

He also prayed for future celebrations and many more years to witness this special occasion in peace, prosperity, and good health.

His statement partly read, “Eid-el-Adha allows the Muslim Ummah to remember and reflect on the submission of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to Allah. The lesson in this is for the entire world to value sacrifice in our relationship with one another. It’s a reminder of Allah’s commandment to us all to genuinely demonstrate and exhibit love towards one another and ensure peace at all times in our relationship with others. The times are hard, but as we celebrate the Sallah today, let’s also remember the less fortunate ones. We must extend compassion, support, and assistance to one another, especially to these less privileged ones amongst us. Compassion, love, and sacrifice are the bedrock of the message conveyed by Prophet Ibrahim in his trial and travail before Almighty Allah.

“Therefore, let’s also endeavor to put our trust in Almighty Allah at all times and even in the face of adversity, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim”.
