Embark on Needs-Based Projects – Ogun Commissioner

There is a need to implement need-based projects towards providing social amenities that will improve the living standard needed for a quality life at the grassroots.

Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, stated this during a monitoring exercise to Odeda Local Government Area of the state, to examine the level of execution of projects embarked upon a few months ago, saying the Chairmen were the closest to the grassroots and should prioritise projects that would be beneficial to the citizens.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, the Commissioner noted that the Chairmen in the LGAs were people’s representatives, strategically positioned to serve and execute sustainable projects that would be beneficial to all.

On her part, the Chairman, Odeda Local Government, Hon. Waliat Adeyemo, commended the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his support in implementing some projects, informing that the funds were judiciously utilised.

She reeled out some of the projects embarked upon, renovation of the Administrative Block, OLGHA Block, 20 Lockup shops at Kila, drilling of borehole at Otere-Ogunkola village at Olodo Ward 4, boreholes, construction of six Lockup shops at Obantoko, energisation of transformer at Obantoko, modern toilet facility at Fadage, Bode-Olude and grading of roads across the LGAs, among others.

In their separate remarks, the Baale Camp-Akinlagun, Chief Akanji Fatola, and the Babaloja Gbonogun, Chief Egbelani Mudashiru, commended the government for the developmental projects that would reflect in the livelihood of the people.

Commenting, a farmer at Otere-Ogunkola, Mr. Sola Ogunkola, appreciated the Chairman for the provision of boreholes, saying the gesture had solved the challenge of accessing water which would be a relief to people in the community.
