The former Head of Service in Ogun State, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, today, paid a condolence visit to the widow of the late Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona, at the royal residence in Ijebu-Ode.
Fagbohun, was received by the bereaved Olori Adekemi Adetona and some senior members of the royal household. The visit was in honour of the late monarch who passed away recently after decades on the throne as one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers.
Speaking during the visit, Fagbohun described Oba Adetona as a “beacon of integrity, discipline, and selfless leadership,” adding that the revered monarch left behind an indelible legacy that would continue to inspire generations across Ijebuland and Ogun State at large.
“The Awujale was not just a royal father; he was a guide to many of us in public service. His values and principles shaped governance and leadership in Ogun State,” he said.
He also remarked that Kabiyesi loved and cared for him unreservedly like a dotting father, though he is not of Ijebu extraction, saying, he would always look back with nostalgia the period he richly drank from the deep well of wisdom of Kabiyesi.
He commiserated with the royal family and the people of Ijebuland, urging them to take solace in the impactful life and enduring legacy of the late king. He prayed for the peaceful repose of Kabiyesi’s soul.
The Olori, in her remarks, appreciated the visit and thanked the former Head of Service for his continued support and respect for the royal institution. She also expressed gratitude to all those who have shown solidarity with the family during the period of mourning.
