The Nigeria Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command in its unwavering efforts to combat criminal activities and protect public and private infrastructure within, the Command has carried out a series of strategic raids targeting identified black-spots across the territory.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh in a statement, daily raids are critical to maintaining law and order in the FCT.
She said, “These proactive operations are aimed at: Preventing Crime: Targeting criminal black-spots to deter and prevent crimes before they occur, ensuring a safer environment for residents.
2. Protecting Infrastructure: Disrupting activities that lead to the theft and vandalism of public infrastructure such as manhole covers, streetlights, and power cables.
3. Curtailing Drug Abuse and Trafficking: Confiscating illegal drugs to disrupt supply chains and protect communities from the harmful effects of narcotics.
4. Enforcing the Law: Demonstrating the police’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring criminals are held accountable.
“The Command identified and raided the following criminal hideouts across the FCT:
1. Apo-Dutse Panteka
2. Diplomatic Zone
3. New PDP Secretariat
4. Kabusa Panteka
5. Ajakaita (Tungan-Maje)
6. Abuja-Kaduna Road
7. Jabi Panteka
8. Apo-Waru Panteka
9. Area 1 (Monkey Village)
10. Durumi Village
11. Gwarimpa
12. Angwan Tivi
13. Mpape (Mashafa and Shishinpe villages)
14. Durumi III (Burukutu Garden)
15. Mabushi (Gishiri Village)
16. Kubwa (by Pipeline and NEPA Road)
17. Maitama (under the Transcorp Bridge)”.
The success achieved through the daily raids, she said, have yielded remarkable results, which include, arrest of 348 suspects for various criminal activities, prosecution of 320 suspects, seizure of 10 trucks loaded with vandalized metals, disrupting the market for stolen items, recovery of 26 manhole covers and 20 solar/streetlight poles, ensuring the restoration of critical public infrastructure, confiscation of large quantities of AEDC armored cables, preventing further vandalism, seizure of substantial quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted hard drugs, reducing drug-related crimes and recovery of 11 firearms, eliminating dangerous weapons from circulation.
These successes, she added, underscore the importance of sustained raids in creating a crime-free and secure environment for all FCT residents.
