Nigeria – A non-profit organization, Yewa North Patriotic Front, YNPF, in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun has called on the Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR to give Ayetoro community a well-equipped and functional Fire Service Station.
The group, in a letter addressed to Gov. Abiodun and signed by its President, Sunday Adeyemi premised their demand on a recent unfortunate incident that occurred in Ayetoro, the headquarters of Yewa North Local Government on 21st of February 2024.
According to them, a devastating fire outbreak occurred in the community, which resulted in the complete destruction of several properties and leaving many families displaced and devastated.
“The fire outbreak, which started on this fateful day, quickly spread due to the lack of immediate and adequate firefighting resources in the area. Despite the efforts of the residents and emergency responders and fire fighting officers, the fire could not be curtailed on time, leading to significant loss of properties.
“As members of the community, we are deeply concerned about the lack adequate firefighting infrastructure and resources in Ayetoro. The absence of a well-equipped fire station in our vicinity greatly hindered the ability to respond effectively to emergencies such as the recent fire outbreak. We believe that the fully functional fire station in Ayetoro is crucial to preventing and mitigating the impact of future fire incidents.
“Therefore, we respectfully urge the State Government to consider our request for the facilitation of a well-equipped fire service station in Ayetoro. Such facility would not only enhance our community’s safety and resilience but also provide timely assistance to neighboring communities in times of need.
“We believe that investing in fire prevention and response infrastructure is a crucial step towards ensuring the safety of lives and properties and well-being of all residents in Ogun State”, the group stated.
YNPF also sent their letter to the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), Rep. Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, Member House of Representatives representing
