Food Security Efforts: Gov. Abiodun, FUNAAB, Obasanjo Farms, Fatokun, Others Bag Ogun NIPR Awards

Nigeria – The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun will on Thursday be honored by the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations for the government’s proactive and bold measures being put in place to promote food security in the State.

The award ceremony, according to Femi Dokunmu, Chairman, Colloquium Planning Committee of NIPR, is one of the highlights of the 2024 Annual Colloquium of the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, which has as its theme: “Galvanizing Public and Private Stakeholders towards addressing Food Crises in Nigeria: Public Relations as Key Driver”.

Other individuals and organizations being honoured for their outstanding contributions to food security and proactive measures to mitigate food crises in Ogun State and Nigeria, Dokunmu stated are: the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Ltd; Mr Adewole Fatokun, MD/CEO Choice Agrochemicals Ltd and Mr Samson Ogbole, Team Lead, Soilless Farms Lab.

“The NIPR, Ogun State Chapter has found Governor Abiodun worthy of the award of “Outstanding Government Support for Food Security” in view of the Governor’s proactive engagement with critical public and private stakeholders in the food production and supply value chain, including farmers, truck owners, market men and women, among others”, Dokunmu stated.

In the letter conveying the governor’s award, jointly signed by the NIPR Chairman in Ogun State, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye and the Planning Committee Chairman, Mr Femi Dokunmu, the NIPR commended Governor Abiodun for his decision to establish a Commodity Board and introduce price control measures to ensure food availability at reasonable prices within the State.

“Other highlights of the programme holding at the Cinema Hall of the Cultural Centre, Abeokuta are exhibition of food products and agric inputs, public presentation/launching of the NIPR “Image Maker” Journal and presentation of position papers and discussions on the theme of the Colloquium.

“The Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Professor Babatunde Kehinde is the Lead Speaker; Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Bolu Owotomo is the Keynote Speaker and the President and Chairman of Council, NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, is the Special Guest and Chairman of the occasion”, Dokunmu said.
