Global President, UNIPGC, Amb. Jodah Appoints CrimeWatch Newspaper Publisher, Ohi As SA on Media

Nigeria – The Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of CrimeWatch Newspaper, Mr Ohi Akpengbe, has been appointed as the Special Adviser On Media to the Global President of United Nation International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC), His Excellency, Amb. (Dr) Jonathan Ojadah Emmamuzo.

The appointment was announced on Friday, 9th August, 2024, during the conferment of an award as the “Grand Patron” of Nigeria MiniFootball (Spartan Eagles) Association on the Ambassador, held at his residence in Lekki Atlantic Gardens Estate, Alabeko, Lekki -Ajah.

Others Special Advisers appointed included retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Victor Olayiwola Owadogbon as Special Adviser on Security Affairs; and Mr Noble Eze Oluchukwu as the Special Adviser on Investment and Promotion.

Reacting on his appointment, Ohi Akpengbe, expressed gratitude and appreciation to God for the appointment, noting that his relationship with the Ambassador for the past one decade hasn’t been a fluke.

“We have worked together and been good friends for the past 10 years and have been in the media industry for the past 25 years, which gives me the requisite experience and knowledge to carry out my task”, he said.

On why he appointed the versatile journalist as his Special Adviser on Media, Amb (Dr) Jonathan Ojadah Emmamuzo stated that with the demands as a diplomat, it becomes necessary to make such appointments to assist him in navigating the media space by given elaborate publicity of UNIPGC activities across the globe.

A journalist per excellence, Ohi Akpengbe started his career in journalism with ThisDay Newspaper as a member of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) between 1999 till 2001.

It was learnt that the ebullient media guru later went to England for his Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) at Manchester College of Art and Science, and came back to Nigeria in 2004, to continue his professional journalism practice.

Motivated by shear determination to make humongous impact in the media ecosystem, he started “Crime Watch Magazine” as the Editor-in-Chief until 2008, and acquired Crime Watch Newspaper before adding the online platform “Crime Watch Online News” in 2015 and still publishing till date.

In addition to the practice of journalism, Ohi Akpengbe has also cut his teeth in security studies galvanizing into different Diplomas in Security online in various countries.

The Special Adviser was appointed in 2015 by the Nigeria Police Force as a Media Consultant to the Inspector General of Police.

“I have worked diligently with them, and received several awards from the Security Agencies and other humanitarian awards from different government parastatals”, he said.
