Nigeria, Oke-Odan – The Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, has assured that the federal government of Nigeria will continue to promote access to improved health services at the grassroots as he announced the designation of the Oke-Odan Primary Health Center as outstation of the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta in its operations.
Dr Salako made this announcement on Saturday, 29th November, 2025 in Oke-Odan, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State where he commissioned the Oke-Odan Health Center renovated and equipped by a socio-cultural elite group, the Oke-Odan G30 Development Association, as part of activities marking the 2025 Oke-Odan Cultural Festival.
While reiterating that government alone cannot meet all the requests of the people in view of limited resources, Dr Salako advised the group to institute a revolving fund that would be used in keeping the health center functional pending its formal take-over by government, assuring that he would make personal contribution to the fund.
Earlier, in their remarks, the Chairman of the Project Committee, Dr Haroun Ajibode; the Chairman of Oke-Odan G30, Otunba Abayomi Oluyomi and the Oloke-Odan of Oke-Odan, His Royal Highness, Oba Dr Olurotimi Fagbenro, all pleaded with the Minister to facilitate government’s take-over the running of the facility in partnership with the community.
In his goodwill message at the ceremony, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, Honourable Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade commended the G30 Association for their efforts and assured that he would join the group in providing more equipment for the health center.
Other dignitaries at the commissioning include the Onihunbo of Ihunbo, His Royal Highness, Oba Joseph Adesiyan; the Aro of Oke-Odan, Alhaji Alli Ajibode; the Ogboye of Oke-Odan, Chief Adetunji Ebo and Mr Emmanuel Adeleye, among others.
