Nigeria, Ado-Odo/Ota – The honourable representing Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Hon. Tunji Akinosi FNSE, has officially commenced a comprehensive school renovation initiative, starting with a block of classrooms at Toyon High School, Ere.
This marks the beginning of a constituency-wide effort to upgrade educational infrastructure, funded through a ₦700 million allocation from the ₦1 billion zonal intervention fund approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement in Ota, Rep. Akinosi emphasized the urgent need to revitalize schools across the constituency. “Our schools are in dire need of assistance,” “We must ensure our children are well-equipped by putting their schools in good shape,” he stated.
He further highlighted a unique challenge facing Ado-Odo/Ota, that despite being geographically larger than three other constituencies combined, it receives the same federal allocation. He stressed that such resources must be judiciously utilized, with a strong focus on the needs of future generations.
The renovation of Toyon High School is the first of many. Other schools slated for upgrades include Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Lafenwa Ota, Ilogbo-Ashowo Community Secondary School, Ilogbo and St. Stephen Secondary School, Ado-Odo, Iyesi High School, Iyesi Ota, Igboko Community Primary School, Igboko, Odan Abuja Community High School, and many more. In addition to infrastructure improvements, students will receive school uniforms, bags, and writing materials, reflecting a holistic approach to educational development.
Rep. Akinosi’s impact extends beyond education. He has sponsored bills to establish a Federal Medical Centre and an Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute in Atan-Ota. His constituency projects include road construction, solar-powered streetlights and boreholes, and financial grants to over 4,000 residents.
These efforts have earned him the reputation of a “silent achiever” whose works speak volumes and drive greater impacts.
As the renovation project gains momentum, residents remain optimistic that this wave of development will transform Ado-Odo/Ota into a model of inclusive and impactful representation.
