A Nigeria border community with Benin Republic in Yewa-North local government area of Ogun State, Igbokofi under the umbrella of Igbokofi Development Forum, IDF, has written a Save Our Soul, SOS, letter to the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
In the letter, signed by the forum President and Secretary, Oyekan Peter and Amosu Abraham, and some traditional chiefs, the community writes, “the deplorable condition of the Ijale-Ketu/Ijoun Igbokofi road has stifled economic growth, compromised security, and threatened Nigeria’s territorial integrity. Infact, Igbokofi and her neighboring towns has been subjected to the humiliation of border incursions by the Republic of Benin’s Police force.
“Past and present they have brazenly entered our soil, arresting our citizens without so much as a whisper of resistance and before we can even cry out for help, the situation he’s sprawled into chaos leaving devastating in it is wake our sovereignty is being trampled, our people are suffering, and yet it seems no one is listening only because of poor access road.
“Most importantly, Igbokofi and her environs with nine polling booths and approximately ten thousand electorates comprises of the following town; Idigbo, Asaga, Bode, Oke-Eyo, Omilende, Owode, Ipinle, Oke-ola, Orisada, Ogunba-Ayetoro and Oke-odo ibore.
“None of these towns is having maternity centers, the absence of maternity centers in this towns has resulted in significant loss of lives, particularly among women during childbirth who are forced to seek medical attention at distant hospitals in Ijoun or Ayetoro, often with devastating consequences”.

CONSTRUCTION OF IJAALE-KETU/IJOUN IGBOKOFI ROAD
We are compelled to bring to your attention a pressing matter that requires urgent intervention because Igbokofi community is a vital constituency in Ogun West Senatorial District, has been neglected and abandoned for too long.
Igbokofi community has nine polling booths of nothing less than ten thousand eligible voters that largely comprises women.
Despite our unwavering loyalty and support to the government of Ogun State, we have been denied of Ijaale/Ijoun Igbokofi road and other basic infrastructure we deserve.
Consistently, the deplorable condition of the Ijale-Ketu/Ijoun Igbokofi road has stifled economic growth, compromised security, and threatened Nigeria’s territorial integrity. Infact, Igbokofi and her neighboring towns has been subjected to the humiliation of border Incursions by the Republic of Benin’s Police force. However, this communities is a significant force to be reckoned with. It is more imperative that Ogun State Government to prioritize our need and construct this critical road and extend other dividend of democracy to us.
By doing so, your administration will:
– Unlock economic potential and stimulate growth.
– Ensure safety and security of Nigerian citizens dwelling in Igbokofi and its environs.
– Demonstrate a commitment to the welfare of our citizens.
– Protect Nigeria’s land from further encroachment by neighboring countries.
We Implore you so to take immediate action and make the construction of the Ijale/Ijoun Igbokofi road a priority. The people of Igbokofi community are counting on your leadership to address this long-standing issue.
