Nigeria – A concerned citizen of Ogun State, Sherif Temiyemi, has written a letter to the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun suggesting way out of food scarcity in the state.
The letter:
Your Excellency Sir, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun – MFR
As a concern citizen of Gateway State, I bring you a suggested solution to have sufficient food in our dear Ogun State
If we really want sufficient food in Ogun State sir, I want to plead to our listening Governor to let Local Government autonomy work, Prince Dapo Abiodun can leave Local Government Executives alone First. Then, we can put an high focus on Ogun State Legislators to mandate it to Local Government Chairmen to invest in Agriculture. If 1 to 3 months, 80% of Federal Government allocation to the Local Government could be invest in Agriculture, we will have more than enough food in Ogun State and some other States will emulate our strategic planning.
We can be strategic about it. Lets pick 8 Local Government, 2 from each 4 Regions that we have
• 2 Local Government from Egba Region
• 2 Local Government from Ijebu Region
• 2 Local Government from Remo Region
• 2 Local Government from Yewa/Awori Region
out of 20 Local Government, to invest massively in Rice Production.
We picked another set of 5 Local Governments as well to invest in Pepper and Vegetables
Other 5 Local Government can handle Powder foods coming from Maize Farming, Tubers Farming like Cassava, Yams and Potatoes to produce Semo, Yam Flour, and Garri.
We go on like that , including rearing by Ranching of Ram, Goat, Poultry with the Fish production could be handled by remaining 2 of the Local Government.
By doing so we are automatically and systematically creating Local Industry, reduce Unemployment rate that are making our Youth to be idle already, because of those food productions.
Let’s just imagine all our Local Government are industrious, every member of the communities will surely see one or two things to do and its benefit.
