A special Anti-cultism Court, sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Friday, July 4, 2025, ordered one Adewale Obadiah, a.k.a Badoo, be remanded in a correctional facility.
The court’s decision was sequel to the defendant’s failure to meet his stringent bail condition of One Million Naira, two notable sureties in like sum, among others.
Obadiah was docked by the Anti-cultism Unit of Ogun State Police Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) on a four-count charge bothering on membership of unlawful cult group, possession of lethal weapons, causing fear and disturbing the peace of the society.
The charges reads: “That you, Adewale Obadiah, a.k.a Badoo, and others at large, on 15th June, 2025, at Ita-Ale, Papa area of Oja-Odan in the Ilaro Magisterial Did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit membership of unlawful society, Buccaneer Confraternity cult group and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 45(b) of the Prohibition of Forcible Entry and Occupation of Landed Properties, Armed Robbery, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Anti-violent and Other Related Offences Laws of Ogun State, 2016.”
Count 2: “That you, Adewale Obadiah and others at large, on the same date and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did belong to membership of unlawful society, Buccaneer Confraternity, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Sections 34 and 35, punishable under Section 36 of the prohibition of Forcible Entry and Occupation of Landed Properties, Armed Robbery, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other Anti-violent and Other Related Offences Laws of Ogun State, 2016.
County 3: “That you, Adewale Obadiah and others at large, on 19th June, 2025, at about 12:00 hours, in Oja-Odan, did unlawfully have in your possession broken bottles, jark knife and criminal charms, with which you armed yourselves in public and attacked Enitan Taiwo, 25, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 80 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.
Count 4: “That you, Adewale Obadiah, and others at large, did conduct yourselves in an unruly manner and behaviour in a way to cause persons in the neighborhood fear and disturbed the peace of the community and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 69 and punishable under Section 70 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2006.”
