Nigeria – An online political movement tagged “Ogun West for Governor Political Action Group, (OW-GPAG)” has been formed to advance the unity of the people of Ogun West Senatorial District in the struggle for Governorship slot in 2027 and drum support for Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as “YAYI” due to his sterling performances and philanthropic activities.

The group, formed by like minds across the Senatorial District is to be coordinated by a renowned human rights lawyer, pro-democracy activist, and former member of the House of Representatives representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, who is also one of the notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Oladele.

Hammering on the need for unity and teamwork in Ogun West, the group quoted conspicuously from the popular writings of Edward Everett Hale, an American author and historian that “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”, enjoins Ogun Westerners to work together and let “unity in action hasten the dawn of freedom” while also emphasizing collective action to achieve a collective result. “Together we strive, together we achieve”, the Group espoused on its Facebook page.

The group in an eloquent and very persuasive manner further states that Ogun West for Governor Political Action Group (OW-GPAG) is a Socio-political Movement to advance the unity of the people of Ogun West Senatorial District and appeal to the sense of justice and fairness of the political leadership and people of Ogun East and Ogun Central Senatorial Districts respectively in the forthcoming (2027) Governorship elections in Ogun State.

“Otherwise, how equitable is it that, since the advent of democratic dispensation in Nigeria, aftermath of the creation of Ogun state in 1976, no one of Ogun West extraction has occupied the office of the Governor? Justice and fairness demand that under the principle of affirmative action, other Senatorial Districts should concede the Governorship seat to Ogun West Senatorial District.

“One way to achieve this is that in support of the clarion call for Affirmative Action, the people of Ogun West must be very definitive, pragmatic and intentional in putting forward a formidable and generally accepted governorship candidate for the election.

“Ogun West must be ready and prepared to present a consensus candidate with proven capacity, appeal, resilience, experience, political sagacity and resources required to compete favorably with other governorship aspirants from other Senatorial Districts. The best of us must be selected to represent the rest us.

While throwing its unflinching support for the intention of Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Yayi to run for Ogun state gubernatorial election in 2027, the Group stated that “it is in pursuit of this objective that the group is dedicated to promoting, encouraging and supporting Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi’s intention to run for the Governor of Ogun State in 2027.

“The group’s primary objective therefore, is to launch a popular movement that will mobilize massive support for Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, project him as the foremost and most formidable candidate from Ogun West Senatorial District in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Ogun State”.

They gave the link below as the group’s face book account link which showcases the many projects, activities and achievements of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and encouraged people to participate in the historic project.
