Nigeria – The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat has urged the newly elected local government Chairmen in the state to work tirelessly towards fulfilling their electoral promises to the electorates.
Hon. Hamzat in his congratulatory message to the Chairmen, added that their tenure should be known for transparency, accountability and dedication to service, in order to make the state a model for grassroots development and good governance.
He urged Chairmen and Councillors across the 20 Local Government Areas, to take their primary responsibility seriously, and ensure that dividends of democracy were evenly distributed to every community in their council areas.
Hon. Hamzat, who lauded the democratic process that led to their emergence, commended the electorate for their active participation and peaceful conduct during the elections, saying it symbolises the people’s trust and confidence in the new leaders.
He charged them to prioritise policies and projects that would promote inclusive growth, rural development and welfare of their constituents, assuring them of the Ministry’s unwavering support, in achieving Governor Dapo Abiodun’s vision of a prosperous and inclusive governance.
The Commissioner expressed optimism in the capacity of the new leaders to deliver, adding that their tenure would usher in accelerated progress across the state.
