Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, apprehended one Alhaji Seidu, male, 35, of Alagbada Community in Imasayi, while in possession of vandalised armored cables, copper cables, and power conductor cables.
The arrest, according to the Corps spokesman, DSC Dyke Ogbonnaya, was made following several complaints from notable communities in Yewaland, including Igbogila, Imasayi, Sopoto, Oju Atan Igbogila, Lafenwa Igbogila, Oke-Ode Igbogila, Oke Agbele, Ayedaade Igbogila, Oja-Ale Igbogila, Ibese, Balogun, Abule-Oke, amongst others, to the State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo MLCJ, IION, regarding the vandalization of electricity installations resulting in total darkness in over 23 communities.
“Following these incessant complaints, the State Commandant ordered an immediate arrest of the perpetrators, specifically tasking the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, Anti-Vandal and Counter-Terrorism Response Teams and other tactical teams of the command, including all Intelligence and Surveillance units across the area.
“The operation leading to the arrest was a collaborative effort of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, Intelligence/Surveillance and Anti-Vandal teams of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta and tip offs from local intelligence within the several communities being kept in perpetual darkness”, Ogbonnaya stated.
He added, “The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR, had earlier ordered a zero-tolerance policy on vandalism across all State Commands of the federation.
“The State Commandant while commenting on the arrest warned all vandals in Ogun State to desist from these illegal acts, stating that any arrested suspect (s) will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“The State Command’s Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, Intelligence/Surveillance and the Anti-Vandal teams have intensified efforts to ensure adequate protection of all critical national assets and infrastructure across the State and its environs, while deepening investigations into the current arrest”.
