Nigeria – An academics and professional support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, “P-BAT Academics and Professionals” has applauded President Tinubu’s led administration over introduction of 15 mandatory skills for students in primary and junior secondary schools in the new education curriculum.
This updated curriculum, according to government will be implemented in January 2025, following approval from the National Council on Education.
P-BAT Academics and Professionals, in a statement signed by its Convener and National Coordinator, Prof. Yemi Oke, SAN, said between the year 2022 and 2025, the group Education and Training Cluster held pre-confrence meetings, seminars and on-line workshops that culminated in position papers and communiques that were forwarded to the office of Asiwaju BAT (then as presidential aspirant and later APC candidate) as well as to appropriate government departments after the assumption of office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Our group, P-BAT ACADEMICS AND PROFESSIONALS GROUP also organized a self-funded conference in Abuja, which was well attended by notable government officials and strategic bodies, on Thursday 15th February, 2024 at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
“We are delighted that most of our suggestions and recommendations are now being given serious attention by the Tinubu administration.
“The imperative of these skills cannot be overemphasised, and have been well captured in the recommendations from our Education and Training Cluster at those conferences, workshops, and technical papers among other technical series made by our Group.
“We commend the Tinubu government for being a listening administration.
“We undertake to forward all our positions and recommendations to appropriate units or agencies for effective and successful implementation of the new education curriculum and mandatory skills acquisition.
“As a Group, we undertake to sustain our roles as partners in a new Nigeria envisioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Nigeria is working under P-BAT. Kudos to us all.
“Let’s continue to engage the process by jealously and keenly monitoring the implementation of this laudable policy from all our clusters, directorates and at all States in Nigeria through our State coordinators”, Prof. Oke stated.
