Let me start by congratulating Dr. Suleiman Afikpo for emerging as the Chief Imam of the National Mosque in Abuja.
Congratulations to you and to your fellow Igbo minorities who chose to become Muslims in Igbo land.
It is clear that we the Hausa Christians of Northern Nigeria share so much in common with you as both of us belong to a major ethnic group but have become Minorities in a major ethnic tribe just because of our choice of religion.
However, the Muslim community deemed it fit to project an idea and send a clear message to the world that the Igbos should not be mistaken for a purely Christian ethnic group as many were made to believe.
I truly commend this initiative, and I also want to call on our southern Christians to borrow a leaf from our Muslim brothers as it’s scriptural that “the people of the world are wiser that those of the book”.
For the benefit of the doubt, I challenge the Christian community in Nigeria to project, promote and erase the misconception, and misinformation that all Hausas are Muslims as there are Millions of Indigenous Hausas who are Believers in Jesus Christ.
